Arcane? more like LEGO NINJAGO!!!?!???
As I was watching Arcane, I couldnt help but notice the glaring similarities between Viktor and Sky from Arcane's relationship and Zane and Pixal's from Ninjago. Both have the women die and become an advisor for them all in the realm of their mind. Hell, even the stupid gray but illuminated hair is the same.
I know obviously this wasn't an intentional thing but I find it quite funny. Zane and Viktor are some of my favorite fictional characters and seeing them be so similar is nice.
Pixal and Zane are my favorite fictional pairing ever because Zane is such an important character to me and their relationship really made me realize that love can exist for me in an odd way. I thought just because I was so weird and "robotic" that I could never find someone like me, but seeing Zane and Pixal on screen being eachother's heart (or power core or whatever) really made everything click for me. I was capable of love.
It has got me thinking just how common this trope is though. Like, its got to be in other places too right? It cant just exist in Ninjago and Arcane, right?
I don't watch any shows outside of animation really so a lot of my ideas for what are "common tropes" are a bit skewed. If anyone knows another show where a male scientist/robot character has their partner die and then get sorta programmed back into them, feel free to tell me! I would love to learn!!!
I feel like I miss out on a big chunk of great art by limiting myself to just animated shows. I've been thinking of making myself watch Lord of the Rings or something because I see so many great artists talk about how much that film and films like it have inspired them. Maybe that is what I've been missing all this time with my art. A lot of great artists say something along the lines of "You need to experience great art in order to make great art" and I feel like I've been cutting myself off from a lot of great art by limiting myself so much. It's just hard to watch scary live action shows for me tho blehhh
But I would really love to watch more shows with guys who turn themselves into robots and have huge crazy breakdowns because of it... Maybe I'll just have to hunt for them myself (and endure very shitty cgi...)
